How we work

Process

Undergraduate

We work with students and families from 9th grade (year 10 in the UK) onwards. We meet with our students both face to face and via services such as Skype or WhatsApp, and help them discover and develop their strengths between 9th and 11th grades (years 10 and 12).

In the summer between 11th and 12th grades (years 12 and 13) and continuing over the autumn, we meet more frequently in order to develop application lists, complete essays, fill out applications, and prepare for interviews. Our process ends when the student registers at his or her university of choice.

Transfer

We start to work with transfer students as soon as they know they want to transfer. The transfer process is generally as involved as the undergraduate one, albeit more intensive as it takes place over a few months.

Graduate

Our graduate student candidates approach us up to a year before applying, and we guide them through their preparations and applications.

What is included

We pride ourselves on complete transparency regarding our services and fees. Our service description clearly outlines all of our services and the associated fees so there are no surprises.

Our application consultancy works on the basis of one comprehensive package that covers the countries you wish to apply to (any combination of: the US, Canada, UK, and English language programs in countries where we have expertise). We can also offer hourly consultancy and more limited packages based on personal need. Our comprehensive package includes the following:

We evaluate the student’s subject selections and grades and determine to what extent these match the targeted universities. We make yearly recommendations and revise as necessary.

CURRICULUM

We help determine the order in which these tests should be taken. We suggest private tutors or testing centres, and follow the student’s progress.

STANDARDIZED TESTS

We evaluate the student’s extracurricular involvement and make recommendations in line with her desired universities and majors.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

We help the student determine his aptitude and explore interests, with the aim of helping him choose majors (or courses in the UK). When necessary, we suggest further testing and refer to a Careers Consultant.

CAREER GUIDANCE

We assist the student with one summer school applications for one summer, generally used the summer before applications. Further summer applications are subject to additional fees.

SUMMER SCHOOL

A sound application list is the most important part of the application process. We put together the final application list by working closely with the student and the family, and involving them in every step of the decision process in order to ensure a list that will result in a number of strong acceptances as well as some safety choices.

UNIVERSITY LISTS

We ensure the student obtains every element of the application on time, and we provide guidance in filling out applications on many different application systems (Common App, UCAS, Coalition, University of California, etc). We help the student get organised so that the applications are filled well before any deadlines.

APPLICATIONS

Using a method we have developed over the years, we help the student get organised and select the best possible essay topics. We also provide feedback on several revisions to ensure that the student applies with a set of well-developed essays. Under no condition do we directly edit or write essays in part or whole. Universities are very attuned to such assistance, and will at worst disqualify candidates and at best disregard essays in their entirety, which puts the student at a significant disadvantage.

APPLICATION ESSAYS

We conduct mock US admissions interviews with the student and offer feedback. We offer advice on UK interviews, and refer students to specialists for Oxford and Cambridge interviews.

INTERVIEWS

In the event that the student or family wish to apply for financial aid, we help determine a financial aid strategy, construct a university list that will result in the highest amount of potential aid, and guide the family in filling out financial aid forms.

FINANCIAL AID

“On our son’s graduation day, we thought of you. Thank you once again for helping him to successfully transfer. It’s been a momentous three years for him at Penn.”
