US College Application Essay Workshop

Get an intensive start on your US college application essays and gain valuable skills for the year ahead! Over three weeks our tutors, published writers with a history of Ivy league successes, will initiate your Common App and supplemental essay-writing process. We will guide you in personalized topic selection, start you writing, and give you feedback on your work while upskilling you in brainstorming, drafting and editing. The workshop will provide you with tips, strategies and approaches to college essay writing. You will come away with drafts of your Common App essay and outlines for one supplemental essay, as well as the tools with which to perfect these and to write your remaining essays. Overall this workshop seeks to empower you to be a confident and self-reliant writer and provide you with a firm and intensive foundation for the application period.
The course includes:
6 x 90 minute workshops (seminar-style teaching and peer-to-peer feedback preparing you for university)
One-on-one office hours to receive feedback specific to your work
Exercises to help you brainstorm and plan your essays in the most efficient and effective way possible
Essay-writing techniques (topic selection; structure; narrative; language; editing)
An assortment of sample essays (successful and less successful) to gain skills and insights with which to recognize an effective essay
Time for writing in-session
Get ahead of the curve by producing an extensively revised draft of your Common App essay and one supplemental essay, used by multiple universities, by the third week of September
Relaxed environment with plenty of time for your questions
